Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This Privacy Policy explains what information ExcelSheetUnlock (the "Service") collects and how it is used. Please read it before using the Service. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

1. Files you process

The Service removes sheet and workbook protection from Microsoft Excel files entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript. The files you process are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party server. They are read from your device, transformed locally in your browser's memory, and offered back to you as a download. We have no way of seeing, copying, retaining, or analysing the contents of any file you process.

You can verify this by loading the page, disconnecting from the internet, and then using the tool — it will continue to work, because no network connection is required after the initial page load.

2. Information collected automatically

When you visit the Service, our web hosting provider may collect standard server-log information, including your IP address, browser user-agent, referring page, and the pages and resources you request. This data is used to operate the site, diagnose problems, and protect against abuse. We do not use this data to identify you personally.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

The core tool does not require cookies to function and does not set first-party tracking cookies.

If advertising is enabled on the site (see "Advertising" below), third-party advertising partners may set cookies or use similar technologies. Where required by law (for example for visitors in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland), you will be presented with a consent prompt before any non-essential cookies are set, and you can choose to refuse them.

4. Advertising

This Service may display advertising provided by Google, including through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info. For information about how Google uses data when you use partner sites or apps, see Google's policy.

5. Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage of the site (for example, total page views per day). If used, analytics are configured to not collect personally identifying information and to anonymise IP addresses where the analytics provider supports it. We do not link analytics data to any file you process.

6. Information you provide voluntarily

If you contact us by email, we will receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use that information only to respond to you. We do not add contact emails to any marketing list.

7. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data that we hold about you. Because we do not collect or store the files you process, the only personal data potentially held about you is the server-log information described above and any advertising identifiers handled by our advertising partners. To exercise rights against our advertising partners, please use their controls (linked above).

9. Security

Because file processing happens on your own device, the security of the file you produce is bounded by the security of your device and browser. The Service itself is served over HTTPS.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised policy.

11. Contact

If you have questions about this policy, contact us at: [email protected].
